Forgive me if this is a dumb q. Why would I want to install vanced music? Like what benefits does it offer. I wasn't sure so didnt, but now there is no option in vanced manager. Thanks.
First time on this subreddit so idk if I can ask question. But does anyone know any good apk apps for free music? I saw many, but they all seem to have onr important thing missing uniquely. Does anyone know an app could be like spotify or thr og itube, that allows to create playlists, has all the songs (maybe like all those that are on yt), and doesnt save your downloaded songs in your camera roll? The last necessite might be weird but I use to use Itube (aka 'bg player' on google play store) alot but all the downloaded songs go directly to my camera roll, which I dont like bc it makes me scroll so much just to find a picture. I recently installed android 11 on my oneplus 7 pro, and it came with a new version of youtube, that isn't supported by vanced. Here is your fix! Download youtube 15.43.32 (here is the link I used, but feel free to use whatever one you trust) Youtube 15.43.32 You will then need to transfer it over to your computer, or just download it on your pc. Also make sure you have adb working Run this command in adb on your pc adb install -d -r [path of your youtube apk on pc] ex: adb install -d -r C:\Users\LegitUsername\Desktop\youtube.apk You can get the path of your file by dragging the file into the cmd window Hit enter, it will install, and will take a minute Then run vanced and it will work :) Edit: Thank you so much for silver!

Remove Ads from your Life with AdGuard Home and Alternative Social Media Apps
Note: I know this is a bit basic, but I know it is what I would have wanted 3 months ago. Lately, I've been getting into automation and accessibility with my phone. While I am definitely not the first one to use this, I think that I am evidence that someone with no coding knowledge can improve their life significantly when it comes to their phone and computer. The thing that I think has affected me the most is AdBlock. Now, most of you are (hopefully) using an extension in your desktop browser, like uBlock Origin or AdGuard, but what you might not know is that you can actually block ads across your entire network using a service called AdGuard Home. (There are also alternatives, such as pi-hole, but let's focus on AdGuard) All you need is a RaspberryPi, (almost any version works, works, and you can find a RasberryPi Zero for as little as $5), and about 10-30 minutes, depending on your proficiency with Linux. I'm not going to write a tutorial here, but you can find one here, or google "AdGuard raspberry pi." What this does is that it blocks ads on your entire network, so whether you are on your phone or in an app, the ads will (probably) be disabled. The drawbacks of this are that not all ads are blocked (youtube is finicky,) and it requires a little common sense when it comes to computers. Luckily, there's another way... Bringing us to Alternative Social Media Apps. There are currently many different apps for different social media platforms, almost all of which feature ad-blocking. Here are the ones that I'm currently using: Note: You will need to uninstall APKs for some of these apps to work. If you don't know how to do that, check this article out. Youtube: Vanced Blocks ads, skip sponsors using SponsorBlock, download videos, and get AMOLED dark mode, all for free. They also have a youtube music app, also with no ads, and also for free. Note on vanced: Since it is so popular, many fake websites claim to have downloads. ONLY DOWNLOAD VANCED FROM https://vancedapp.com/ Facebook: Swipe for Facebook A clean looking Facebook interface, with every feature of the main Facebook app, plus messenger, dark mode, and Ad Blocking (for an additional one-time fee), it is my personal Facebook app, and definitely worth the $5 or so to block sponsored posts. Twitter: Owly for Twitter While I personally use Flamingo (an app that is now removed from the app store due to Twitter's token limit), I have tried Owly and can say that it is definitely one of the best Twitter apps. They have a great looking UI, Ad blocking, Filters, video downloading, and tons more. They do have a $3 fee to access most of the features, but again, it's definitely worth it, plus you can always get a refund if you don't like it. Reddit: Relay for Reddit Reddit is a big one, and while Apollo is still my all-time favorite Reddit app, it's only available on IOS, so I use Relay. It has Ad Blocking, a WAY better interface and UI than the official Reddit app, and AMOLED Dark Mode. You can also scrub through videos, and it's just a generally better app than the normal one. If you like it, you can support the developer with the pro version (although there are no large differences between the pro and free versions.) Instagram: Insta aero A good looking Instagram app with Ad Blocking, photo scaling, and AMOLED dark mode. Plus much more. Please only download from https://aeroinsta.com/ In general, using AdGuard and Alternative Apps are a great way to save money and not have to deal with CONSTANT ADS all around us. Maximizing phone utility without compromising privacy, security
Recently came across some ways to enhance the privacy and security aspects (hopefully, and thus looking for any alternative opinions) of phone. There are some Miui specifics.
Vanced Manager - This can be installed by downloading the APK from https://vancedapp.com/ for an app that acts as a convenience gateway to install 3 additional apps i.e. Vanced Youtube, Vanced YT Music and Gmicro (this being needed by former 2). In general this approach is risky, but given that how highly recommended this came (on multiple forums) and the fact that all the source-code is opensource (on Github), this looks safe enough. Note that it'd need few things to do done, i.e. APK from other sources (side-loading, i.e. outside Play Store) will have to be permitted, and from Developer Options, MIUI optimizations would have to be disabled globally. For the uninitiated (like I was few hours back), Vanced Youtube allows you to play Youtube videos without ads (mostly, it seems), and Vance YT Music does same for Youtube Music, with *lots* of configurable options. MicroG, is an opensource reimplementation of Google's proprietary Android userland application and framework (more here: https://microg.org/)
Blokada Slim 5 - Blokada Slim Ad blocker is a free app that uses DNS (Domain Name System) servers to enable you to have an ad free browsing experience to see only the content you want (description cut-n-pasted from Play store), with opensource code. This seems to be based very closely on an older and abandoned opensource project called BlockThis. Key thing is the promise of better battery utilization, though one sees some reports in playstore that on some phones it has increased battery consumption, especially on moving from version 4 to version 5.
If others have had experience with the above software, would really love to hear your views. I've installed Vanced suite for now, and so far pretty happy with it. However, too soon to say, as it has just been an hour or so. I did install Blockada, but didn't complete all the post-installation steps, due to the conflicting reports of battery over-consumption on certain devices. This is one thing I hate, i.e. have battery being drained rapidly.
